Frequently asked questions about hub centric rings

Basics

What is a hub centric ring?

A hub centric ring (also called a spigot ring or centering ring) is a plastic or aluminium ring that fits between the wheel's center bore and the car's hub. It centers the wheel precisely on the hub and eliminates vibrations while driving. A hub centric ring is needed when the wheel's center bore is larger than the car's hub.

Why do I need hub centric rings?

Hub centric rings are needed when you install aftermarket alloy wheels with a center bore larger than your car's hub. Without hub centric rings, the wheel won't center properly, causing vibrations in the steering wheel especially at speeds above 60 km/h. Hub centric rings also make wheel installation easier, as the wheel sits in the correct position immediately.

Does my car need hub centric rings?

You need hub centric rings if your wheel's center bore is larger than your car's hub diameter. Check your wheel's center bore (often stamped on the back of the wheel) and compare it to your car's hub size. For example, if the wheel is 72.6 mm and the hub is 57.1 mm, you need a 72.6β†’57.1 hub centric ring. OEM wheels typically don't need hub centric rings.

What's the difference between a hub centric ring and a wheel spacer?

A hub centric ring centers the wheel on the hub without changing the ET offset or wheel position. It's a thin ring that fills the gap between the center bore and hub. Wheel spacers, on the other hand, push the wheel outward and change the ET offset. They are different products for different purposes.

Choosing the right size

How do I choose the right hub centric ring size?

You need two measurements: 1) Wheel center bore diameter (outer measurement) — found on the back of the wheel or in the manufacturer's specs. 2) Car hub diameter (inner measurement) — found in your car's technical data or by measuring. Hub centric ring size is expressed as outer→inner, e.g. 72.6→57.1 mm.

How do I find my car's hub size?

You can find your car's hub size by: 1) Checking our car models database. 2) Looking in your car's owner manual. 3) Measuring the hub diameter with calipers. 4) Asking us β€” tell us your car make, model and year and we'll tell you the right size.

How do I find my wheel's center bore size?

The wheel center bore size is usually stamped on the back of the wheel along with other technical data (e.g. 7.5Jx17 ET45 5x112 72.6). It's usually the last number. You can also measure it with calipers. If you can't find the info, ask the wheel manufacturer or us.

Can I use a hub centric ring that's ~0.2 mm off?

Yes, you can. Hub centric rings have a small tolerance, and a 0.1–0.2 mm difference in the outer or inner measurement won't practically affect performance. If the exact size isn't available, choose the closest size.

Material and quality

What material are the hub centric rings made of?

Our standard hub centric rings are made of precision heat-resistant plastic that withstands temperature changes, moisture, and mechanical stress. We also offer aluminium hub centric rings for more demanding applications β€” they handle higher temperatures and provide even greater precision.

Which is better, plastic or aluminium hub centric rings?

Plastic hub centric rings are sufficient for most applications. They're lightweight, affordable, and perform excellently in normal driving. Aluminium hub centric rings handle heat better and are more durable, especially when the rings are very thin. Aluminium is a good choice for more demanding use, such as track driving.

How long do hub centric rings last?

Hub centric rings practically last the entire lifespan of the wheels. They don't wear out in normal use. The only reason to replace them is if you switch to wheels with a different center bore. Plastic hub centric rings last decades when properly installed. Note: very thin rings may get damaged during installation if you're not careful.

Installation

How do I install hub centric rings?

Hub centric rings are installed simply by pressing them into the wheel's center bore before mounting the wheel on the car. 1) Clean the hub and wheel center bore. 2) Press the ring into the wheel bore β€” it should fit snugly. 3) Mount the wheel on the car normally. The hub centric ring stays between the wheel and hub.

Do I need to remove hub centric rings when changing tires?

No. The hub centric ring stays in the wheel and moves with it. During tire changes (e.g. summer/winter tires), you don't need to handle the ring separately. If you switch to different wheels with a different center bore, you'll need different hub centric rings.

Can I install hub centric rings myself?

Yes, installation is easy and doesn't require special tools. Press the hub centric ring into the wheel's center bore and mount the wheel on the car normally. We recommend cleaning the hub and wheel contact surfaces before installation.

Ordering and shipping

How fast is delivery?

In-stock standard sizes ship within 1–2 business days. Custom hub centric rings are manufactured to order and take approximately 2–3 business days. We ship worldwide.

How much do hub centric rings cost?

Standard sizes start from 14.90 € / set (4 pcs). Custom hub centric rings start from 49.90 € / set. Price includes 4 hub centric rings β€” one complete set for all four wheels.

How many hub centric rings do I need?

You need 4 pieces β€” one for each wheel. All our products are sold as sets of 4, so one order is enough for one set of wheels.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), PayPal, and bank transfers. All payments are processed securely.

Is there a return policy?

Standard size hub centric rings have a 14-day return and exchange policy. If the ring doesn't fit, you can return it for a refund or exchange for the correct size. Note: custom hub centric rings cannot be returned as they are manufactured individually to your specifications.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship hub centric rings worldwide. Shipping costs are added to the order at checkout. For US customers, please visit us.hubcentric-rings.com.

Custom orders

What is a custom hub centric ring?

A custom hub centric ring is manufactured to your exact specifications. If our standard range doesn't include the right size for your wheel and car combination, we can manufacture hub centric rings with precisely the right measurements. Just provide the outer and inner diameter.

How long does custom manufacturing take?

Custom hub centric rings are manufactured within 2–3 business days from order. After manufacturing, they ship immediately and delivery takes 1–2 business days.

How precise are custom hub centric rings?

Custom hub centric rings are manufactured with extreme precision. Typical tolerance is Β±0.05 mm, ensuring an excellent fit.

How are custom hub centric rings manufactured?

Custom hub centric rings are manufactured from precision-grade durable engineering plastic. Temperature resistance is approximately 100 Β°C.
