What is a hub centric ring?
A hub centric ring (also called a spigot ring or centering ring) is a plastic or aluminium ring that fits between the wheel's center bore and the car's hub. It centers the wheel precisely on the hub and eliminates vibrations while driving. A hub centric ring is needed when the wheel's center bore is larger than the car's hub.
Why do I need hub centric rings?
Hub centric rings are needed when you install aftermarket alloy wheels with a center bore larger than your car's hub. Without hub centric rings, the wheel won't center properly, causing vibrations in the steering wheel especially at speeds above 60 km/h. Hub centric rings also make wheel installation easier, as the wheel sits in the correct position immediately.
Does my car need hub centric rings?
You need hub centric rings if your wheel's center bore is larger than your car's hub diameter. Check your wheel's center bore (often stamped on the back of the wheel) and compare it to your car's hub size. For example, if the wheel is 72.6 mm and the hub is 57.1 mm, you need a 72.6→57.1 hub centric ring. OEM wheels typically don't need hub centric rings.
